Fiery Tony Ynot stars as San Beda pulls away late vs skidding EAC

Do-it-all guard Tony Ynot was firing on all cylinders, leading San Beda University’s late charge against Emilio Aguinaldo College, 72-64, in NCAA Season 98 on Tuesday.

Ynot posted 25 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, and three steals to lead the Red Lions to the win. He shot 10-for-14 (71.4%) from the field, including two triples, and 3-for-4 (75%) from the line.

James Kwekuteye added 13 points, nine boards, and three steals while Yukien Andrada chipped in with nine points.

Staring at a slim 54-51 third quarter lead, the Red Lions were unleashed in the fourth quarter to basically put the game to bed.

Ynot dropped six quick points to fuel an 11-4 run as San Beda’s lead ballooned to nine, 67-58, with 1:20 left to spare.

But Art Cosa fired back-to-back triples, bringing EAC back to within five, 69-64, but James Kwekuteye sank both his freebies to put the punctuation.

San Beda bounced back from a previous loss to Perpetual to improve to 7-4 while EAC absorbed its third straight loss for a 1-12 slate.

San Beda was able to create a 10-point separation early in the second, 27-17, but with JP Maguliano and Mac Balowa steering the ship for EAC, the Generals were able to pull to within three at the half, 41-38.

Ynot paced San Beda in the first two quarters, where he poured in 14 of his overall output.

Maguliano led EAC with 11 points and nine rebounds while Allen Liwag had 10 markers, seven boards, two steals, and two blocks.
