San Beda coach impressed by San Sebastian's Rhinwill Yambing as high-flyer leads late rally

Rising star Rhinwill Yambing has been gaining praise for his stellar performances for San Sebastian College-Recoletos of late in NCAA Season 98.

And the latest to be impressed by him was San Beda University head coach Yuri Escueta.

Yambing led the Stags on Sunday where he almost led the team to a comeback victory after trailing by as many as 15 points. He fired back-to-back triples halfway through the fourth as San Sebastian fought back to force overtime.

But Escueta's San Beda survived to take the game in the extra period, 82-79.

Yambing finished with 17 points, two steals, one rebound, and one block, but his numbers weren't enough as San Sebastian saw its two-game winning streak snapped to drop to 5-7.

"Nag-three straight (three-pointers) sila nun eh so grabe si Yambing eh. Iba talaga," said Escueta.

The rookie San Beda mentor also supported the comparisons between Yambing and former NCAA rookie MVP in Rhenz Abando of Colegio de San Juan de Letran.

"Na-compare nga kay Abando, which is a fair comparison. Totoo."
