Benilde-JRU game stopped in fourth quarter after John Amores charges Blazers bench | NCAA Philippines

The NCAA Season 98 game between De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde and Jose Rizal University was halted at the 3:22 mark of the fourth quarter after the Heavy Bombers' John Amores charged the Benilde bench and punched several players on Tuesday at the FilOil Flying V Arena.

After a long pause in the action, the NCAA Management Committee announced that the game would be ended, with the score of 71-51 in favor of Benilde being made final for the game.

The game was stopped "to avoid further escalation of untoward incidents and for the safety of players, coaches, and audience."

The ManCom representatives of both schools, Mr. Dax Castellano of Benilde and Mr. Paul Supan of JRU, both agreed to the decision.

As of the end of the game, no sanctions have been announced, with further investigations expected.

Benilde improved to 10-3 while JRU fell to 6-7.

Jimboy Pasturan scored 18 points while Will Gozum had 15 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Blazers.

Amores tallied four points on 1-for-12 shooting and five rebounds before the game was halted.
