As a big man, Damie Cuntapay is known for his defense and being a threat inside for San Beda University.
But the fourth-year bruiser has been showing off another weapon in his arsenal: his three-point shooting.
In their latest win against rival Colegio de San Juan de Letran on Wednesday, Cuntapay dropped a perfect shooting performance from downtown, nailing 4-of-4 from long range to finish with 16 points.
But this isn’t the first time Cuntapay was perfect from beyond the arc this season. In their first round meeting against Lyceum of the Philippines University, he went also went a spotless 5-of-5 from the three-point areas but they lost to the Pirates, 89-81.
Cuntapay shared it’s something he has been working hard at practice.
“Pinraktis ko naman ‘yun. Kung di siya pumapasok, parang walang kwenta ‘yung pinapractice ko kaya talagang ititira ko yun kasi alam kong pinapractice ko siya,” said Cuntapy.
“Keep on practicing lang sa outside shooting ko.”
With Cuntapay hot on offense, San Beda completed an elimination round sweep of the Knights and become the only team to beat the defending champions twice.
“Sobrang laki ng impact ng game na ito dahil parang ito na ‘yung boost namin. May chance pa kami mag-top two at sa next two games namin, dadalhin namin itong panalo na ito and keep on focusing lang,” he added.
