Veteran guard Shane Menina bids Arellano Chiefs goodbye after passing of his father

Shane Menina has bid Arellano University goodbye with two games left in the Chiefs' campaign in NCAA Season 98.

"To Arellano Community thank you for having me especially sa mga big boss at management na binigay niyo suporta until matapos ang season. At mabigyan ulit ako ng chance makalaro sa NCAA ulit," Menina said in a heartfelt Instagram post on Saturday.

"All love. College done! Menina out!"

The veteran guard said he won't be able to finish the season given the situation in his personal life. Menina's father recently passed away, just hours after he led Arellano to an 86-81 victory against University of Perpetual Help System DALTA last Tuesday.

In that game, Menina exploded for 25 points alongside seven assists to help the Chiefs book their seventh win.

Still, he's more than thankful to the community for giving him another shot at basketball after a long journey in the sport.

"Sa mga coaches and teammates ko salamat sa season na ito kahit hindi ko matapos sa remaining games," he said.

"Suporta pa rin ako sa team. Hindi ko to kagustuhan na hindi matapos yung season pero God’s plan na 'to. Sa coaches thank you sa mga lesson on and off the court. Thank you sa lahat na opportunity mapakita ulit talent ko sa NCAA."

Menina was Arellano's third leading scorer, averaging 10.0 points, 3.57 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 1.35 steals in 14 games he played. He won't be around as the Chiefs take on College of Saint Benilde on Sunday and EAC on Tuesday.

"Sa teammates ko thank you, it’s been a roller coaster ride na season 98! Thank you sa mga sa tiwala binigay niyo as a kuya."

Thank you, Shane!
