Lyceum of the Philippines University made sure to bounce back from a lopsided loss to San Beda University, carving out an 89-78 victory over host Emilio Aguinaldo College in the NCAA Season 98 juniors basketball tournament on Friday.
Matthew Rubico picked up where he left off from that last game, flirting with a triple-double of 25 points, 10 assists, and nine rebounds as the Junior Pirates improved their record at an even 1-1 while sending EAC to a winless 0-2 card.
Cirian Mulligan dropped 15 markers while Nat Fuentes and Ziv Espinas chipped in 14 and 11 apiece.
In the second game, University of Perpetual Help System DALTA came back from 23 points down to deny Benilde-La Salle Green Hills in an 82-77 comeback victory. The Junior Altas, who won in their previous outing against Arellano University, improved to 2-0 while LSGH sank to 0-2.
Amiel Acido led Perpetual's rally with a double-double effort of 19 points and 18 rebounds while Jericho Montero and Lebron Daep both had similar 11-point and 11-rebound performances to steer Perpetual to the win.
Manuel Pablo's 20 points, 17 rebounds, and three steals went for naught as LSGH lost for a second time in a row.
