San Beda University juniors basketball head coach Miko Roldan said they are excited to go against the Mapua Red Robins after the Red Cubs were given another chance to defend their title in the NCAA Season 98 juniors basketball tournament.
The Rizal-based squad will play Mapua in the playoff for a chance to get a higher seed in the Final Four. The loser of the said match will automatically be the fourth seed once the semifinal round starts.
"'Yung Mapua noong elimination [round] tinalo kami and we're ready to face them again so we're excited for that matchup," said San Beda head coach Miko Roldan.
The Red Cubs fell to the Red Robins, 76-62, in their elimination round faceoff back on February 8.
Aside from going against Mapua, Roldan is happy to have a chance to go higher in the Final Four seeding.
"I'm just happy for the win, I'm happy for our boys, I'm happy for our community. Kahit papaano, at least ngayon, nasa Final Four kami and may chance kami umangat sa number 2 or number 3, depende sa amin," said Roldan.
Should San Beda win against Mapua, they will advance to the next playoff stage where they will face La Salle Greenhills for a chance to get as high as number 2 in the standings.
The San Beda and Mapua faceoff will be played on Monday.
