San Beda University high school player Kirk Cañete was back on the Red Cubs' bench, although in civilian clothes, as they took on La Salle Green Hills in the NCAA Season 98 juniors basketball playoff last Thursday.
Asked about the status of his recovery, Cañete said he will undergo a follow-up checkup this week after a two-week observation.
"Ok naman po, medyo nahihilo lang po. 'Yung leeg ko po di lang masyado nagagalaw," Cañete told GMA News Online last Thursday after their match against the Greenies.
("I'm okay, although I still get dizzy. I'm still not able to move my neck freely.")
Despite the mishap that happened on the court, the Bukidnon native is excited to play the sport again.
"Siyempre naman po, looking forward po," he said.
("Of course, I'm looking forward to it")
The 16-year old player is also grateful to San Beda as the school flew in his parents from Bukidnon.
"Nag-worry sila tapos lumipad sila rito and masaya naman sila na walang sobrang samang nangyari," said Cañete. "Hindi po nila (San Beda) ako pinabayaan, pati 'yung shinoulder po nila plane tickets ng parents ko. Wala po akong kahit piso na nagastos."
("My parents were worried, so they flew in and they're happy that nothing too bad happened... San Beda took care of me, they shouldered even the plane tickets for my parents. I didn't have to spend a single peso.")
Cañete had a bad landing during their match against San Sebastian College-Recoletos last February 23.
