The Colegio de San Juan de Letran men's basketball team on Monday received a citation from the Philippine Sportswriters Association for its three straight championships in NCAA men's basketball.
Neil Guarino received the award on behalf of the Knights and said he was thankful for being part of history.
"As part nung three-peat na crew, sobrang it's an honor sa akin kasi hindi naman lahat ng players katulad ko mabibigyan ng ganun. Once in a lifetime 'to, kumbaga part kami ng history ng Letran," Guarino told GMA Integrated News on Monday.
("As part of the three-peat crew, it is an honor for me [to be recognized] since not all players get that opportunity. This is once in a lifetime and we somehow are part of Letran's history.")
With the three-peat completed, the Knights are already starting to prepare for their four-peat bid.
"Ngayon off-season namin, may mga pinupuntahan kaming liga, out of town, training, every day weights, tune ups sa iba't ibang teams para makuha namin 'yung jelling ng team namin," he said.
("Now that it is the off-season, we go to leagues, out of town, training, everyday weights, tune ups with other teams for our team to jell.")
Letran won the NCAA men's basketball championship in Seasons 95, 97, and 98.
