De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde and San Beda University opened their respective campaigns on a high note as they notched wins in the AsiaBasket International Championship in Malaysia on Tuesday.
The Benilde Blazers defeated Sanzar Pharmaceuticals, 93-80, as Miggy Corteza led the Taft-based squad with 16 points, two rebounds, and two assists. Alaine Cajucom added 14 markers while Prince Carlos chipped in 13 points.
Meanwhile, the San Beda Red Lions dominated the BGC Builders, 105-82.
Gab Cometa led the Mendiola-based squad with 21 points while Jacob Cortez added 19 points.
The two NCAA teams will return to action on Wednesday as Benilde takes on the MFT Fruitmasters while San Beda will face Malaysian team MBC Basketball Club.
