The NCAA on Sunday bared that JL Delos Santos would not be handed a one-game suspension after a post-game review showed that he didn't commit an unsportsmanlike foul late in the Jose Rizal University-De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde clash last Friday.
Delos Santos was ejected from the game with 2:14 left in the overtime period after being whistled for his second unsportsmanlike foul following a deliberate elbow hit on Benilde's Mark Sangco
Prior to that, he was already given an unsportsmanlike infraction in the 9:08 mark of the second quarter after elbowing Michael Mara.
League commissioner Tonichi Pujante, in a statement, clarified "It was ascertained that the elbow of JRU player JL Delos Santos did not hit CSB player Mark Sangco. As such, it did not warrant an unsportsmanlike foul."
According to league rules, an ejection automatically warrants a one-game suspension in the next game.
Pujante also said they will be suspending the three referees that handled that JRU-Benilde game for 'failure to execute sound judgement, inefficient use of the Instant Replay System (IRS) review, as well as for ceasing to assert themselves as game officials.'
The three game officials will be suspended from September 30 to October 14.
