San Beda University completed an elimination round sweep of Jose Rizal University after their second round win, 74-69, on Saturday in NCAA Season 99 at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.
With the win, the Red Lions improved to 10-6 and tied its standings with De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde.
San Beda led by as much as 12 points, 55-43, with around five minutes in the third quarter after a Jacob Cortez jumper.
JRU eventually closed the gap to within three, 69-66, with 1:33 left in the final frame, but James Payosing and Yukien Andrada powered the Red Lions late to get the win.
During the first round, the Mendiola-based squad escaped JRU, 74-70.
Andrada paced the Red Lions with a game-high output of 18 points, while Jomel Puno had 13 points and eight rebounds. Jacob Cortez also chipped in 12 points, while James Payosing registered a double-double of 12 points and 11 boards.
JL Delos Santos and Shawn Argente led the Heavy Bombers in scoring with 15 points apiece.
San Beda's last two assignments include Lyceum of the Philippines University on Tuesday and rival Colegio de San Juan de Letran on Friday.
JRU, meanwhile, will have Mapua University for their last elimination round game on Wednesday.
