Will Gozum, Miggy Corteza, Prince Carlos bid farewell to Benilde | NCAA Philippines

Seniors Will Gozum, Miggy Corteza, and Prince Carlos bade farewell to De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde as the Blazers ended their season last Sunday.

The Taft-based squad finished third in the men's basketball tournament after winning the NCAA's first battle for third contest against Lyceum of the Philippines University.

"If you ask me if the risk was worth it? A hundred times yes," Gozum wrote in the caption of his post.

Gozum transferred to Benilde in 2020 after his stint with the University of the Philippines. The NCAA Season 98 Most Valuable Player previously said playing for Benilde was something special.

"To my teammates, your warm welcome to me as a transferee really helped me gain my confidence back. You’ve given me a reason to redeem myself and pick up. If given a chance to play college ball one more time, it will be with you guys again," Gozum wrote.

Gozum also thanked his coaches for their trust, and the Benilde community for their support.

"I feel so honored to represent you guys. Extending one more year to fight for the crown was worth it with you standing by our side. We failed to get the crown this year but, we hope to feel your continuous support on the upcoming seasons," he added.

Corteza, meanwhile, said Benilde fulfilled his dreams of becoming a basketball player.

"I was a young kid who dreamt of playing basketball. Thank you CSB for giving me the opportunity to live my dream," Corteza wrote in his post.

"Being a Benilde Blazer changed my life, and I hope I can repay the kindness that this program has given me."

Carlos, meanwhile, relished donning the green-and-white for 16 years, which included his time playing for De La Salle Santiago Zobel in his younger days.

"Played for the green and white for about 16 years, now it has come to an end. I will forever cherish all the memories I made whether it be the ups or downs."

"On to the next chapter… ANIMO!"
