Sean Salvador is now seriously pondering his next move after closing his high school stint with the Mapua University Red Robins in the NCAA Season 100 juniors basketball.
Will he stay in Mapua and join the Cardinals?
The 19-year-old guard admitted that Mapua seniors team head coach Randy Alcantara and consultant Chito Victolero are reaching out to him as the Cardinals continue to put up the pieces in their title defense come Season 101.
Salvador's potential arrival for the Cardinals makes sense, especially after the exit of rising guard Lawrence Mangubat who has transferred to Jose Rizal University alongside Chris Hubilla.
But Salvador said nothing has been cast in stone just yet, sharing he's also considering offers from other schools he opted not to disclose.
"Nagre-reach out din sina Coach Randy, kinakausap din ako last week na gusto nila akong iakyat sa college lalo na si coach Chito Victolero. Nag-meet kami sa gym tapos kinausap niya ako na umalis nga si Mangubat at he hopes na magkita kami sa Cardinals," Salvador said.
"Tinatanggap ko lang ‘yung mga sinasabi nila. Madali naman mag-decide at nirerespeto ko lahat ng mga nagre-reach out sa akin."
Salvador said his priority when considering his college team is the playing time he will get and the community he'll be in for the next five years of his college career.
In Mapua, he will join the graduating Clint Escamis as well as Cyrus Cuenco, JC Recto, and other incoming Cardinals like Cyrus Nitura and Cyril Gonzales.
"Makakapagpa-yes sa akin ay ‘yung playing time kasi ‘yung pera nasa pro naman eh, ‘yun ‘yung sinasabi sa akin ng mga coaches and ‘wag ko daw isipin ‘yun," Salvador added.
"Sa college kailangan playing time talaga at ‘yung community and course ko siyempre, gusto kong mag-business management."
