Mapua University shared its pride in representing the Philippines in the global stage.
The Cardinals finished 14th overall in the World University Games held in Rhine-Ruhr, Germany last July 16 to 27.
"The Mapúa Cardinals is incredibly proud to have represented the Philippines in the recent FISU World University Games 2025 last July 16-27, 2025 in Rhine-Ruhr, Germany. With over 8,000 student-athletes from over 100 countries representing various sports, our very own basketball team successfully bagged a win over Chile in a sweet 77-69 victory," the University said in its post.
"This participation, which was also recognized by the Federation of School Sports Association of the Philippines (FESSAP), also serves as a strategic move for the team to foster camaraderie as they march into the upcoming NCAA Season 101."
In the tournament, the Cardinals ended the group phase winless against Brazil, Czech Republic, and Poland. The NCAA defending champions also fell short against Lebanon, 73-67, in the quarterfinals.
In the classification round, however, the Intramuros-based squad defeated Chile, 77-69, before falling to Argentina, 84-71.
Brazil won the gold medal in the said event, while the United States and Lithuania completed the podium.
