San Beda University vented all its frustrations from a previous loss to Emilio Aguinaldo College with an 81-64 win in the NCAA Season 101 on Tuesday at the FilOil EcoOil Centre.
Team captain Yukien Andrada returned from injury and got huge help from the rest of the Red Lions as they thrashed the Generals in a highly-emotional game to return to the win column.
San Beda, which was coming off a streak-ending 67-66 loss to JRU last Friday, improved to 3-1 in Group B while EAC dropped to 1-3.
Janti Miller almost had a double-double of 14 points and nine rebounds while Jomel Puno posted 12 markers, six boards, and two assists as San Beda sent EAC reeling to back-to-back losses following a loss to Letran last Saturday.
Andrada, who missed the past two games due to a shoulder injury, played for just 24 minutes but came out with 12 points, six rebounds, and two assists to help the Red Lions bounce back.
"[Against] JRU, that was a tough loss. The team was down for a week, but shoutout to our vets, they kept us together and had us ready to come out here and win this game," the Filipino-American Miller said.
It was all San Beda from the get-go with Andrada, Puno, and Zed Etulle leading their first-half surge that at one point saw them leading by 17 when Andrada completed a layup that pushed the gap to 41-24.
Things heated up when a commotion broke out between EAC forward Wilmar Oftana and the San Beda bench with 5:34 left in the third period, leading to a technical foul called against the Red Lions.
But San Beda didn't lose composure and closed out the game the way they're supposed to with Miller and Puno hitting a triple each.
Oftana had nine points, four rebounds, and one assist in the loss while Nico Quinal chipped in nine markers all in the first half as EAC is now tied with Letran at the bottom of Group B.
