Paeng Are is officially saying goodbye to San Sebastian College-Recoletos.
In a social media post on Wednesday, Are penned a heartfelt message to those who have been part of his journey with the Golden Stags.
“To my San Sebastian family, my professors and to all the fathers, it was an honor to represent our school. Thank you for always supporting me and our team in every game. Thank you for 8 wonderful years. To Father Pecson, salamat po sa opportunity na makapaglaro para sa San Sebastian. And to Father Arnel, salamat po sa pag gabay sa akin at sa opportunity na binigay niyo sa akin para makapag-aral at makapaglaro sa San Sebastian,” Are wrote on his post.
He also expressed gratitude to the coaches he worked with, including Melo Banua, Egay Macaraya, John Kallos, Arvin Bonleon, and Rob Labagala.
“Thank you coaches for molding me to become the best version of me in and outside the court. Dadalhin ko po lahat ng aral na tinuro niyo sa akin bilang isang player. “
Are also thanked his teammates who stood by him and hinted at a new chapter in his career.
“This is not a goodbye nor the end of my career but a new path and opportunity that I will take for me to grow, improve, and show my talent more. Bravo Baste!”
“On to the next."
He did not disclose, however, what his next step will be.
Are had initially planned to forgo his final playing year at San Sebastian to turn professional but ultimately decided to return for one last run.
He last suited up for the Golden Stags in their game against Lyceum of the Philippines University on Friday.
