Wilmar Oftana delivered a season-high 19 points as Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC) secured an 84-73 victory over Arellano University on Friday.
While the win was crucial for EAC’s standings, Oftana had extra motivation: his family, who traveled all the way from Mindanao to watch him play.
“Isa rin sa motivation ko ‘yung family ko na nanood galing Sarangani,” Oftana said on Friday.
In a separate interview with GMA News Online, Oftana shared that he flew his family to Manila, especially to celebrate his child’s first birthday.
“Sobrang saya and talagang binuhos ko lahat sa laro na ‘to kasi galing pa silang probinsya, galing pang GenSan. Sobrang added confidence,” he said.
Oftana hails from Sarangani, while his partner is from General Santos City.
When asked about his hopes for his child, Oftana said, “Kung anong gusto niya, susuportahan ko siya.”
