Camillo Jugo knocked down the game-winning shot to carry De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde-La Salle Green Hills to an 86-84 escape over San Sebastian College-Recoletos in the NCAA Season 101 juniors basketball on Wednesday at the Filoil Centre.
Jugo took the inbound from Brandon Yutuc, weaved through the Staglets’ defense, and drained a tough mid-range floater at the buzzer to lift the Greenies to their second straight victory.
He finished with nine points, six assists, and two steals while Josef Calo-oy dazzled with 21 markers, seven boards, three dimes, and two steals as Benilde-LSGH, last year's runner-up, improved to 4-2 in Group B.
Team captain Yutuc and Patrick Pasino both posted crucial double-double outings with the former dropping 12 points and 11 rebounds and the latter churning out 11 markers and 14 boards on top of three steals as they recovered after wasting an 11-point lead in the second period.
The loss spoiled Mark Esperanza's 29-point explosion, which he laced with 11 rebounds and six assists while JC Ynot poured 18 markers, seven boards, and six dimes as the Staglets fell to their third loss in a row for a 1-6 record.
