Martin Mejia and Andrei Ugaddan joined forces to lift San Beda University to a 74-63 win against the sinking Lyceum of the Philippines University in the NCAA Season 101 juniors basketball on Tuesday at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.
Mejia top-scored with 20 points while Ugaddan posted a double-double of 15 markers and 18 rebounds as the Red Cubs bounced back from an overtime loss to defending champion Perpetual last Wednesday to improve to 3-6 in Group B.
The loss sent the Juniors Pirates to their sixth defeat in a row for a 2-7 card.
The Red Cubs turned a slim 37-36 halftime lead to a huge 62-47 cushion early in the fourth quarter thanks to a Bill Gravador three-pointer off a Joaquin Wagan dish.
Mejia then knocked down three straight baskets for a 68-56 lead while Ugaddan sank a jumper and a pair of free throws to make it a 72-58 advantage with 1:22 left to play en route to the win.
Adiam Larosa and Gravador each chipped in 11 points to help San Beda return to the win column following a 75-66 overtime setback at the hands of the Junior ALTAs.
