De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde missed the services of its big man and reigning NCAA Most Valuable Player Allen Liwag on Friday after he sustained a shoulder injury in their previous game against Lyceum of the Philippines University last Tuesday.

The Blazers went on to lose to San Beda University, 80-76.

Liwag, however, remains optimistic about his recovery.

“Parang pahinga lang ang kailangan, makakabalik din ako agad,” Liwag told GMA News Online on Friday.

“Saglit lang ’to. Walang binigay na time, pero saglit lang ’to.”

Benilde has three games remaining in the elimination round — against Emilio Aguinaldo College, Colegio de San Juan de Letran, and Jose Rizal University.

This is not the first time Liwag has been sidelined this season. A few weeks ago, he was diagnosed with dengue fever, which forced him to miss three games.

Before the injury, Liwag was averaging 15.67 points, 9.17 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.0 block per game.
