The NCAA has called off its Season 101 events on Sunday as a precautionary measure due to the threat of Typhoon Uwan affecting the country.
The league is cancelling the two games supposedly set at the Mall of Asia Arena, where defending champion Mapua University (5-5) is originally scheduled to take on Arellano University (3-6) at 12 p.m. in their second Group A clash.
Last year's finalist De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (6-4) is also scheduled to square off with Emilio Aguinaldo College (4-5) in Group B action at 2:30 p.m.
The Cardinals are coming off a 78-73 escape against Lyceum of the Philippines University on Friday behind JC Recto and Yam Concepcion while the Chiefs are hoping to end a three-game slide.
The second game, meanwhile, will pit the Blazers with the well-rested Generals with both Benilde and EAC looking to rebound from their previous losses.
Aside from the seniors basketball games, the league has also postponed the juniors basketball games, as well as the chess event.
"In view of the forecasted unfavorable weather conditions, please be informed that the NCAA Basketball Games/Chess Tournament scheduled for tomorrow, November 9, is hereby cancelled," NCAA said in a memorandum dated November 8.
"This decision has been made to prioritize the safety and well-being of our student-athletes, officials, and spectators. A new schedule for the affected game will be announced once conditions permit and coordination with the NCAA Management Committee has been finalized."
