Jose Rizal University broke out of its three-game slump with a 56-47 win against Emilio Aguinaldo College in the NCAA Season 101 juniors basketball on Wednesday at the Filoil Centre.

The Light Bombers leaned on the double-double effort of MJ Estocapio, who posted 14 points and 18 rebounds together with two steals and one block to help JRU recover from a string of losses to Mapua, Arellano, and Letran.

The win allowed JRU to improve to 4-7 in Group B while the Brigadiers fell to their second straight loss to go 7-3 in the same group.

The Light Bombers went on a rampage in the second half with Estocapio scoring six of his overall output in that frame to help JRU establish a slight gap between EAC, 41-34.

But the Brigadiers tied it all up at 43-all behind Kelly Coronel and Clint Bonus.

Estocapio, though, converted back-to-back jumpers to fuel a wild 9-0 barrage that saw JRU take a 52-43 cushion with 3:03 left en route to the victory.

Lexi Callueng supplied the support with nine points, three rebounds, and one steal while Melvin Tailan and Datu Usop chipped in six and five markers each.

Coronel paced EAC in the loss, posting 18 points, eight rebounds, three blocks, and one steal while Xyriel Macahipay chipped in 13 markers, 10 boards, and one steal.
