Froilan Reyes powered Mapua University to an 89–69 victory over defending champion University of Perpetual Help System DALTA in the NCAA Season 101 juniors basketball tournament on Friday at the Filoil Centre.

Reyes waxed hot from beyond the arc, draining six triples on his way to a 23-point outing. He also grabbed 11 rebounds and dished out four assists.

With the win, Mapua swept the Junior Altas in the elimination round and improved to 7–4 to solidify its hold on the top spot, while Perpetual slipped to 6–5.

It was a wire-to-wire win for the Red Robins, who opened strong with a 22–13 lead at the end of the first frame before carrying a 41–34 advantage into halftime.

Mapua continued its dominance in the second half and built its largest lead, 83–56, with 3:28 left in the fourth period after a Ray Relojo basket.

Perpetual answered with a 6–0 run, but Kean Dungca halted the Junior Altas’ momentum as the Red Robins held firm to secure the victory.

Aside from Reyes, three more Red Robins scored in double figures: MJ Bernabe (14 points), Jhillian Palis (13 points), and Relojo (10 points).

The win spoiled Jim Corpuz’s 26-point performance for the Junior Altas.
