Emilio Aguinaldo College banked on Clint Bonus in surviving San Beda University, 71-69, in the NCAA Season 101 juniors basketball on Wednesday at the Filoil Centre.
Bonus erupted for 23 points, together with two assists, one rebound, and one block as the Brigadiers captured back-to-back wins to seize the top seed of Group B and a twice-to-beat bonus with a 9-3 card.
Noel Lanceta chipped in 17 markers together with two boards, one steal, and one dime, while Kelly Coronel chimed in with eight points, six rebounds, two steals, and one dime.
EAC broke a 63-all deadlock in the fourth period with Johari Domingo burying a three-pointer and Bonus sinking a pair of free throws for a 68-63 cushion with 1:42 left.
Tristan Allam then sank a jumper for a seven-point lead, but the Red Cubs fought back with a 5-0 rampage capped by an Andrei Ugaddan basket to pull within two, 68-70.
Bonus then split his free throws to seal the deal as the Brigadiers snapped San Beda's three-game winning streak.
Ugaddan and Bill Gravador posted 16 and 12 points apiece while Juris San Juan churned out 11 points, eight rebounds, and two assists as they fell to 5-7 in Group B.
