San Beda University survived Colegio de San Juan de Letran in double overtime, 81-77, in the NCAA Season 101 juniors basketball on Sunday at the Filoil Centre.

The Red Cubs, who had dropped four of their last six outings, improved to 6-7 in Group B ahead of their play-in showdown with Jose Rizal University, with the winner earning a shot at Group A top seed Mapua University.

Andrei Ugaddan and Juris San Juan both dropped double-double performances to rally the Red Cubs in the double-overtime affair and send the Squires to their second loss in a row.

Ugaddan posted 21 points and 10 rebounds laced with five assists and five steals while San Juan detonated for 21 markers and 13 boards together with two dimes, one steal, and one block as they erased an early 15-point deficit en route to the victory.

Adiam Larosa and Jan Leon Villanueva were also pivotal with the former churning out 14 points, six rebounds, two steals, and two blocks and the latter scattering 11 markers and nine boards.

Despite the loss, Letran still managed to lock up the second seed with a 7-6 card and will take on the defending champion Perpetual ALTAs in the quarterfinals with a twice-to-beat bonus.
