With San Beda University once again on top of the NCAA, questions about Janti Miller’s next move have surfaced.
However, the explosive guard said he has yet to make a decision.
The Filipino-American ace stressed he just wants to savor the championship that he and the rest of the Red Lions delivered when they swept rival Letran in Season 101 finals.
"We’ll see next year. For right now, I have no decision right now, to be honest with you," Miller told reporters following their dugout celebration at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
"I just gotta go home and rest and not touch basketball for months and just come make my decision. I’m just gonna go home and live."
In his first year in the NCAA, Miller had already turned heads—likely fueling interest from other schools.
Miller posted averages of 19.77 points, 6.08 rebounds, and 1.15 assists through the group stage, where the Red Lions emerged as the best Group B team with a 9-4 win-loss record.
In that stretch, Miller also dropped a career game against rival Letran in their second meeting last November 23, erupting for 34 points in a narrow 87-83 loss.
But Miller just showed he can bring San Beda to greater heights in the succeeding games.
After missing Game 2 of the semifinals against Benilde due to a knee contusion, Miller dropped 26 points in the do-or-die game to bring the Red Lions back to the finals in their redemption tour.
He picked up where he left off come the championship round.
Miller had a near double-double of 16 points and nine rebounds before exiting Game 1 prematurely due to an ejection stemming from two technical fouls, resulting in an automatic one-game suspension.
And although he wasn't around in Game 2, Miller never doubted that his teammates could finish it off.
"It feels great. I would not have any other way," he added.
"For them to win a championship without me feels good, I’m so proud of them."
Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future, Miller said his lone season with the Red Lions allowed him to grow on and off the court.
"I felt like I grew up here as a person and as a basketball player. I’m glad I was able to don the red and white of Beda. I’m glad."
