NCAA: San Sebastian appoints Tony Tan as new Golden Stags head coach

San Sebastian College-Recoletos is switching things up again after appointing Tony Tan as the new men's basketball team head coach for NCAA Season 102.

Tan replaces Rob Labagala at the helm, becoming the Stags’ fourth head coach in as many seasons. Prior to Labagala’s tenure in Season 101, John Kallos handled coaching duties in Season 99, while Arvin Bonleon served a one-year stint in Season 100.

Tan's arrival also brought in United Prep Canada as the squad's backer for next season.

"San Sebastian College-Recoletos (SSC-R) has appointed Tony Tan from United Prep Canada as the new head coach for the Golden Stags men's basketball team, starting with NCAA Season 102 later this year. United Prep Canada will also become the team's new sponsor," the school said in a Facebook post.

"This move signals an exciting chapter for the Golden Stags as they gear up for NCAA Season 102. Stay tuned for updates on training camps and preseason action."

Tan will inherit a young but promising San Sebastian team that finished last in Group A last Season 100, racking up three wins against 10 losses before bowing to Lyceum of the Philippines University in the play-in round.

Barring any transfers, Tan will still have the likes of Mythical Five member and reigning Defensive Player of the Year Jhuniel Dela Rama as well as the likes of Ian Cuajao, Jaime Gomez de Liaño, Jose Lumanag, and Christian Ricio.
