NCAA Mythical Team member Janti Miller has parted ways with San Beda University.
Miller announced his departure on Saturday, expressing gratitude to the Red Lions program that helped shape both his basketball career and personal growth.
“Dear San Beda, I was just a young kid traveling across the world to play basketball in a new environment/culture. I couldn’t understand anyone and it was a different living environment. You guys took a chance on me and embraced me as one of your own. A kid who wasn’t familiar with his Filipino roots some may say I’m not even Filipino. Not only did you take me in for basketball but y’all helped me to understand my history,” the 22-year old Miller said.
Miller also paid tribute to his teammates, coaches, and the San Beda community.
“I love my teammates and my coaches. I’m glad I was able to bring you guys and the community a championship and leave as a winner,” he said.
His departure comes shortly after San Beda reclaimed the NCAA men’s basketball championship last December.
Miller confirmed that he will be transferring and leaving the NCAA and thanked everyone who has been part of his journey.
“Once a Bedan, always a Bedan. I will forever support and root for you guys, whether I’m playing for you or not,” he added.
In a message to GMA News Online, San Beda head coach Yuri Escueta said, “We would like to thank him and we wish him all the best!”
Miller leaves San Beda as a Mythical Team member after averaging 19.77 points, 6.08 rebounds, and 1.15 assists per game during the elimination round of Season 101.
