JRU high school player dies after collapsing during game

A Jose Rizal University high school varsity basketball player has passed away a couple of days after collapsing during a preseason tournament game last week.

In a statement, the university confirmed the passing of Carl Jimwell "CJ" Servillon, a member of the Light Bombers. He was 17.

"He unexpectedly lost consciousness during a time out in a FilOil Tournament game last May 22. He was immediately brought to Cardinal Santos Memorial Hospital, where he was confined to the Intensive Care Unit," the statement read.

"CJ passed away last night, May 24. We urge everyone to extend their prayers to CJ's Family during these trying times." -- JST, GMA News
