NCAA Juniors Finals

Quines' career-high, Osis heroics lift Benilde-LSGH to Game 2 win vs. Perpetual

Guillian Quines had the best game of his career while Migz Osis launched timely baskets to lift Benilde-La Salle Green Hills to a 95-91 win over University of Perpetual Help System DALTA in Game 2 of NCAA Season 100 juniors basketball finals on Sunday.

Quines poured a career-best 35 points, including 25 in the first half, to go with 11 rebounds, four assists, and five steals while Osis chipped in 16 markers, highlighted by their last five points.

With the tandem leading the way, the Greenies lived to fight another day and will face the Junior ALTAs for one last time in Game 3 on Tuesday to decide the centennial champion.

LSGH, who was one man down due to the suspension of Arle Podador, didn’t seem undermanned at all, leading by as many as 11 behind Quines’ early barrage of offense. But a 24-12 run saw the Junior ALTAs taking a slim 54-53 lead.

Perpetual then slowly regained a separation with Jericho Cristino burying a triple on the second try for an 82-76 lead with 5:17 left in the fourth period.

The Greenies, though, didn’t surrender as Gian Gomez sank a cold-blooded three-pointer off a Quines assist to give LSGH a 90-87 lead in the final 32.8 seconds.

Perpetual retaliated and scored quick four points on two Icee Callangan free throws and a Jan Roluna basket for a 91-90 lead with 24 seconds to go.

But Osis proved to be the hero, knocking down a layup in transition before sinking the last three freebies to seal it.

Lebron Jhames Daep, who was named MVP in the award ceremony held earlier today, was limited to a season-low eight points but collected 14 rebounds, six steals, two assists, and two blocks.
