Lyceum through to Round of 16 in NCAA 96 online chess tilt

Leonel Escote of Lyceum of the Philippines University moved onto the next round of the NCAA Season 96 online chess tournament.

Escote defeated Colegio de San Juan de Letran’s Jerico Santiaguel in the elimination round on Friday, clinching a place in the Round of 16.

He will join previous qualifiers such as Joshua Michael Yongco of San Beda, CSB-LSGH’s Mel George Faitriz Cadano, Letran’s Christian Mark Daluz, University of Perpetual Help System DALTA’s Jerome Angelo Aragones and Ronald Canino and Arellano University’s Jasper Faeldonia.

After the Round of 16, players will battle it out in the quarterfinals then onto the semifinals. Winners of the semis round advance to the finals while the losers will duke it out for third place.
