From basketball hopeful, Arellano's Carl Lewis Rendon finds fulfillment in track and field

Arellano University's track and field athlete Carl Lewis Rendon is happy he chose to bring his athletic ability to the track.

Prior to being a trackster, Rendon said he played basketball and table tennis growing up. He only tried track and field in senior high school, when it was introduced to him by his father, who was also a former collegiate athletics player.

"He introduced track and field to me by road running," Rendon said in Filipino on Chino Trinidad's report on 24 Oras Wednesday. "I thought we would just go jogging because I was even wearing basketball clothes then. At that time, I was still playing in local leagues here."

But it was through track and field that Rendon found his fulfillment, maybe unsurprisingly, as he does share a name with a track legend and nine-time Olympic gold medalist Carl Lewis.

"I realized that my father's decision was right, it's all worth it."

"Even though it was hard, everything went right."

Rendon, a consistent dean's lister, is also grateful to his alma mater for supporting him in his athletics journey, and hopes to give back to the University, even by coaching or teaching.
