Arellano Lady Chief Sarah Verutiao rises up in the midst of the pandemic

Sarah Verutiao is known for orchestrating plays for the Arellano University women’s volleyball team, who has won the last three titles in the NCAA.

But when the pandemic battered almost everything, most especially sports, the lady chief set up a different kind of play---a milk tea business.

“It all started during the height of the pandemic and we did not have any source of income but my allowances,” she shared on  'Rise Up Stronger: The Road to NCAA Season 96' on Wednesday.

“And then a friend of mine visited our house and offered us a small milk tea business since you only need a small capital to start a business like it.”

Now, Verutiao’s business is thriving with two branches based in Valenzuela and Alabang.

The highly-skilled setter manages her business while also fulfilling her duties as a student-athlete for the Arellano University, who before the pandemic was on the verge of scooping its four-straight women’s volleyball title.

“We are lucky that none of our family was hit by the COVID-19.”
