Despite opening the NCAA Season 97 women's volleyball tournament campaign in rousing fashion, Arellano University head coach Obet Javier stressed the squad is still in its rebuilding stage following the exit of several stars in Regine Arocha and Necole Ebuen.
"Napakahirap kasi talagang parang rebuilding ito. So buti na lang, kahit papano 'yung mga athletes namin ngayon madali silang kausap," Javier said on the heels of their first victory.
The Lady Chiefs cruised to a 25-14, 25-12, 25-21 sweep of Mapua University on Saturday.
This year, Javier said they have to lean more on Nicole Sasuman, who led the team in scoring against the Lady Cardinals with her 13 markers. The tactician, however, said all players should contribute on the floor as a four straight crown for Arellano is at stake this season.
"Hindi kami sumasandal sa isang tao lang. Team effort talaga so binibigyan namin ng oras 'yung bawat player pagdating sa ensayo. Hindi kami naka-concentrate sa iisang tao," said Javier.
