Gentapa-Go tandem stars as CSB wallops San Sebastian to remain unbeaten

College of Saint Benilde made sure not to give San Sebastian College-Recoletos any momentum as it took another sweep victory, 25-11, 25-22, 25-14 to remain spotless in the NCAA Season 97 women's volleyball tournament on Friday.

CSB remained unbeaten to improve to 6-0 behind stellar showings from Jade Gentapa, Mycah Go, and Gayle Pascual while San Sebastian saw its three-game winning streak snapped to drop to 4-2.

Gentapa led CSB after scattering a game-high 17 points off 15 attacks, one block, and a service ace to go along with 10 digs while Pascual finished with 13 markers.

Gentapa and Go took turns to lead the Lady Blazers with the sophomore Pascual notching five early points as they built a huge 20-7 spread. Gentapa then put up the finishing kick, drilling four of their last five points in the opening set, which they dominated with a 25-11 decision.

San Sebastian, known for its ability to rise from huge deficits, put up a fightback in the second, keeping CSB at bay at 19-22 with Bianca Ordoña sparking off the bench to lead the rally.

But CSB held on to its offensive prowess before a Kath Santos service error eventually handed the Lady Blazers the set, 25-22.

San Sebastian looked to be staging a rally, inching closer with a 7-8 disadvantage but CSB fueled an 11-3 run for a 19-10 spread en route to its fifth sweep win in the season, 25-14.

San Sebastian leaned on to Ordoña who churned out 10 points with Santos delivering the same number of markers.

CSB returns to action on Sunday against Jose Rizal University while San Sebastian will look to rediscover touch on Tuesday against San Beda University.
