Dazzling CSB eliminates Perpetual, moves to cusp of outright NCAA finals berth

College of Saint Benilde asserted its supremacy anew, sweeping University of Perpetual Help System DALTA, 25-14, 25-12, 25-18, to move within a win of sweeping the elimination round of NCAA Season 97 women's volleyball on Wednesday.

CSB, touted as a strong title contender, retained its immaculate record at 8-0 ahead of its highly-anticipated clash with three-time defending champion Arellano University on Saturday.

Perpetual, meanwhile, slid to 2-6 to formally bow out of Final Four contention.

The Lady Blazers wasted no time preying on the Lady Altas as they raced to a quick 21-12 lead after a Jade Gentapa block on Mary Rhose Dapol before Mich Gamit sent CSB to set point, 24-13.

Gentapa then soared for a kill that gave them the win, 25-14.

CSB didn't allow Perpetual to score more than its first set output, limiting the Lady Altas to just 12 markers in the second set as they moved a frame away from yet another sweep victory.

With CSB head coach Jerry Yee deploying their bench players in the third, the Lady Blazers still emerged victorious as Gentapa delivered the game-winning off-speed attack, 25-18.

CSB will now head into its last elimination round game against the Lady Chiefs where a win will give the Lady Blazers an outright finals ticket and force a knockout stepladder semifinals format.
