CSB looks to clinch NCAA volleyball title, dethrone Arellano in Game 2

College of Saint of Benilde will look to close out against three-time defending champion Arellano University when the two teams clash anew in Game 2 of their best-of-three finals series of the NCAA Season 97 women's volleyball tournament on Friday.

CSB, which holds a 1-0 series lead, and Arellano will pit their skills at 2 p.m. with the Lady Blazers seeking to end the dynastic run of the Lady Chiefs, who are looking to bag their fourth straight title.

But CSB won't let it guard down against a dangerous Arellano squad out to bounce back from a 3-0 sweep loss in Game 1 where CSB won in convincing fashion, 25-21, 25-11, 25-10.

"Work lang naman, tuloy-tuloy lang hangga't hindi natatapos, wala pa rin naman eh. Three sets pa, one game pa," said CSB head coach Jerry Yee.

"'Di pa tapos."

CSB is looking to cop the school's second volleyball title after it ruled Season 91 against San Sebastian College-Recoletos in 2016 behind that season's Finals MVP Jeanette Panaga.

Meanwhile, Arellano won't go down without a fight.

The Lady Chiefs have been sitting on the throne since Season 92 all the way to Season 94.

Arellano champion coach Obet Javier said his wards have to learn to play without any pressure and fear despite their vast goal to retain the title.

"Katulad nung ginawa namin last time, nung last practice namin, 'yung receive. Actually, two days kaming nag-practice sa receive and maganda naman sana," Javier answered when asked what they will need to improve on come Game 2.

"Kaso, sabi ko nga, kahit anong galing mo, 'pag sinamahan mo ng takot at kaba, mawawala at mawawala."

Game 2 will follow the NCAA Season 97 women's volleyball individual awards ceremony, which will be livestreamed at 1 p.m.
