Mycah Go hailed NCAA Season 97 MVP, Kat Santos wins top rookie plum | NCAA Philippines

Mycah Go won the top individual honor in the NCAA Season 97 women's volleyball tournament as the College of Saint Benilde team captain emerged as the season Most Valuable Player.

The sophomore open hitter has been a big cog for the dominant Lady Blazers, which is why they are now on the verge of the championship after sweeping rival Arellano University in Game 1 of their best-of-three finals series on Wednesday.

With Go leading CSB, the Jerry Yee-mentored team was unstoppable, dropping just one set in the entirety of the tournament while limiting their opponents to less than 20 points per set most of the time.

Meanwhile, San Sebastian College-Recoletos' Kat Santos took home the Rookie of Year award after steering the Lady Stags back to the Final Four, where they eventually lost to Jose Rizal University in the stepladder semifinals.

Venice Puzon of the Lyceum of the Philippines University was named Best Setter while Go and JRU skipper Dolly Verzosa were recognized the 1st and 2nd Best Outside Spiker, respectively.

Puzon's teammate Zonxi Dahab along with Mapua University star rookie Nicole Ong copped the 1st and 2nd Best Middle Blocker awards while Reyann Cañete of San Sebastian snagged the Best Opposite Hitter.

Emilio Aguinaldo College's Alex Salvaloza bagged the Best Libero to complete this season's individual awardees.
