San Beda opens title defense bid with win over Arellano as NCAA beach volleyball tilt commences

San Beda University picked up a win against Arellano University, 21-15, 21-19, to open its title defense campaign on the opening day of the NCAA Season 98 beach volleyball tournament on Tuesday in Subic, Zambales.

 

 

Trisha Paras led the Lady Red Spikers along with partner Maxine Tayag to its first win in the single round robin tournament.

The games opened with a three-set win of San Sebastian College-Recoletos against Lyceum of the Philippines University, 21-12, 19-21, 15-12.

University of Perpetual Help System DALTA swept De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, 21-12, 21-14, while Colegio de San Juan de Letran took down Mapua University, 21-13, 21-15.

Emilio Aguinaldo College defeated Jose Rizal University, 21-14, 21-14, while the Lady Blazers bounced back and beat Lyceum of the Philippines University, 22-20, 21-18.

In the men's division, the EAC duo of Ralph Joshua Pitogo and Joshua Ramilo outlasted JRU's Reggie John Quilban and Janer Jeb Prado to start its title retention campaign, 21-16, 17-21, 16-14.

San Sebastian opened the men's tournament with a win against San Beda, 21-17, 21-12, while Perpetual made a comeback against Arellano, 16-21, 21-13, 15-10.

Letran beat Mapua, 21-17, 14-21, 15-10, while Benilde swept LPU to cap the morning men's matches, 22-20, 21-18.

Games will resume in the afternoon after the opening ceremony.
