Perpetual teams remain undefeated, Arellano women's notch first two wins in NCAA beach volleyball

The men's and women's team of the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA on Wednesday morning remained undefeated to retain their hold of the top spot in the NCAA Season 98 beach volleyball tournament.

 

 

The women's tandem of Mary Rhose Dapol and Janine Padua dealt Emilio Aguinaldo College's Cath Almazan and Monna Bañares their first loss, 21-7, 21-12, while the men's side of Louie Romero and Jefferson Marapoc swept EAC's Ralph Pitogo and Joshua Ramilo, 21-15, 21-14.

With the win, both squads went 6-0 by the end of the morning session.

The Arellano University Lady Chiefs duo of Harem Ceballos and Alona Caguicla, meanwhile, notched its first two wins in the tournament after defeating Jose Rizal University, 21-8, 17-21, 15-13, and Lyceum of the Philippines University, 21-9, 21-13. Their men's counterparts Adrian Villados and Arman Guinto, meanwhile, also got wins against JRU, 21-11, 21-16, and LPU, 21-11, 21-18, to improve to 5-1.

In the other women's matches, San Sebastian College-Recoletos opened the game day with a three-set win against Mapua University, 20-22, 21-16, 15-10, while San Beda University beat De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, 21-19, 21-15. The EAC Lady Generals bounced back after losing to Perpetual with a straight sets win against Mapua University, 22-20, 21-16.

The Golden Stags opened the men's matches with a 21-11, 21-10 win against Colegio de San Juan de Letran and had another sweep when they took on Mapua, 21-18, 21-14. San Beda overcame Benilde, 14-21, 21-17, 15-11, to cap the morning games.

Beach volleyball action will resume this afternoon at 2:30 p.m.
