Reigning men's volleyball champion Perpetual cruises to 2-0 start with sweep of JRU

 

Defending champion University of Perpetual Help System DALTA stretched its unbeaten run in the NCAA Season 98 men's volleyball tournament after sweeping Jose Rizal University, 25-16, 25-20, 25-11, on Tuesday at the San Andres Sports Complex.

Perpetual, seeking to make it three titles in a row, has improved to 2-0 after taking care of its opening day assignment against Emilio Aguinaldo College last Sunday while JRU remained winless at 0-2.

Louie Ramirez, who alongside Jefferson Marapoc ruled the NCAA beach volleyball tourney, once again starred for the ALTAs as he poured in 18 points while Joshua Nazareno chimed in with 14 markers.

Meanwhile, Mapua University marked its season debut on a winning note after also pulling off a sweep victory against Lyceum of the Philippines University, 25-12, 25-13, 25-19, earlier in the day.

Beben San Andres led the charge for the Cardinals as he finished with 15 points alongside 16 receptions while Alvin Macadangdang chipped in 10 markers and four digs as Mapua went 1-0 while Lyceum dropped to 0-1.
