Injured MVP Mycah Go joins Benilde coaching staff

Reigning NCAA women's volleyball MVP Mycah Go isn’t about to let her De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde teammates compete without her, even if she remains on the injury list for her team.

While she won't be involved in the training proper as she nurses an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury she sustained in the offseason, Go has been added to the Lady Blazers' coaching staff.

Benilde head coach Jerry Yee shared Go will help empower the players as she plays a similar role to last season, when she served as team captain.

“Nilagay na natin siya diyan para nakikita siya ng mga players. Mas kakalma, mas maalala nila na part ng team si Mycah,” Yee shared on Wednesday.

“Kahit papaano, may calming presence. May mga maibubulong siya sa players. Siya naman team captain last year so ‘yan naman din ginagawa niya ngayon.”

("We placed her there so that the other players can see her. They can be calm and remember that Mycah is part of this team... At least she can be a calming presence. She can talk to the players. She was team captain last year so that will be the same thing she will do now.")

With Go on the sidelines, the Lady Blazers made sure to bag the win in front of their injured leader.

Benilde pulled off a straight-sets victory over Emilio Aguinaldo College on Wednesday to remain undefeated in Season 98 with a 2-0 slate.

“Andon siya sa bench sa coaching staff, at least andon siya para i-guide ang team.”

("She was on the bench as part of the coaching staff. At least she can be there to guide the team.")
