San Beda, Arellano survive Mapua, Benilde to fan men's volleyball playoff hopes

 

San Beda University and Arellano University cruised to big wins on Wednesday after disposing of their respective foes in four sets in the NCAA Season 98 men's volleyball tournament.

The Red Spikers frustrated Mapua University, 25-21, 22-25, 25-19, 25-12, to forge a tie with the Cardinals at 5-3 at the fourth spot.

 

 

Meanwhile, Arellano pulled off a 25-20, 25-13, 21-25, 25-14 mastery over De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde behind Arman Guinto and Carl Berdal.

Guinto poured in 18 points alongside four digs and 17 receptions while Berdal had 17 markers laced with 14 receptions as the Chiefs improved to 6-1 behind league-leading and undefeated University of Perpetual Help System DALTA (7-0) while the Blazers slipped to 2-7.

Both San Beda and Arellano will return to action on Saturday with the former facing San Sebastian College-Recoletos while the latter takes on Colegio de San Juan de Letran.
