Nicole Sasuman and Laika Tudlasan got hot in the third frame as Arellano University ended its NCAA Season 98 women’s volleyball campaign on a high note, sweeping Emilio Aguinado College, 25-21, 25-23, 25-21 on Tuesday.
Arellano, who will miss this year’s Final Four, closed out its season with a 5-4 card while EAC will exit with a 1-8 slate.
The Lady Generals erupted early in the third with the likes of Krizzia Reyes and Jen Omapas fueling the squad’s rally. But the Lady Chiefs found their rhythm back to get back in the game.
Down by five, 13-8, rookie Tudlasan and veteran Sasuman connived as Arellano trimmed their deficit to just one, 12-13. Sasuman then denied Omapas on her attack to bring the former three-time champion to an 18-15 cushion.
Harem Ceballos then delivered the match point, 24-21, off a scramble on the EAC defense before Moming Padillon finished it off with a service ace.
Tudlasan finished with 14 points while Sasuman collected 11 markers alongside eight digs. Padillon helped the cause with 10 points.
Reyes had another big game, listing a team-high 20 points while Omapas chipped in 11 in the loss.
