The crown is staying put in Taft.

De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde capped off an unblemished NCAA Season 98 campaign with a 25-19, 25-11, 25-20 win over Lyceum of the Philippines University to rule the women’s volleyball tournament on Friday.

The Lady Blazers also extended their winning streak to 29 games dating back to Season 95 to clinch back-to-back titles. This is the second time that Benilde completed a season sweep as it also achieved the same feat in the previous season, going undefeated in 11 games to reign supreme in Season 97.

A 3-1 run in the third set saw the Lady Blazers lead by five, 10-5, before Joan Doguna rallied her side as they closed the gap to two, 9-11.

Johna Dolorito also came alive in that frame, bringing the Lady Pirates to a tied ballgame at 15-all with her two consecutive kills, but Gayle Pascual momentarily killed their momentum as Benilde regained a lead, 16-15.

Cloanne Mondoñedo’s one-two kill then sent Benilde to a much comfortable 20-17 cushion as Dolorito committed a crucial attack error to give the Lady Blazers a 23-20 advantage.
