Johna Dolorito, Jiwen Sinuto star as LPU, Arellano extend streaks in NCAA volleyball | NCAA Philippines

Johna Dolorito of Lyceum of the Philippines University and Jiwen Sinuto of Arellano University shone as their respective squads racked up wins in the second week of the NCAA Season 99 volleyball tournament.

Outside hitter Dolorito posted 20 points in the Lady Pirates' 25-15, 22-25, 25-11, 27-25 against the Lady Chiefs, and had 19 points and 17 excellent receptions in their 25-21, 24-26, 18-25, 25-22, 15-11 win against University of Perpetual Help System DALTA last Saturday.

After their back-to-back wins, LPU is now at 4-0 behind league-leading De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde.

Meanwhile, Sinuto took charge as the Chiefs won three straight games to improve to 4-1.

The 6-foot-1 open spiker had 14 points in their 25-19, 25-10, 25-19 sweep victory against LPU and had 15 markers and 10 receptions as the Chiefs stunned the Stags, 25-23, 25-20, 25-22 win.

In their 18-25, 26-24, 27-25, 17-25, 15-11 win against San Beda, Sinuto had 26 points to deal the Red Spikers their first loss in the tournament.

With these performances, Dolorito and Sinuto were lauded with the Collegiate Press Corps’ NCAA Players of the Week award for the period April 16 to 21.

Dolorito bested Arellano's Pau De Guzman and Benilde's Wielyn Estoque, while Sinuto edged out EAC's Ervin Osabel and Perpetual's Louie Ramirez for the weekly honors deliberated and decided upon by writers covering the league.
