Streaking Perpetual trumps San Beda in finals rematch, remains unscathed | NCAA Philippines

University of Perpetual Help System DALTA dealt San Beda University its second loss in a row, 25-14, 25-22, 25-22, to remain undefeated in the NCAA Season 99 men's volleyball tournament on Tuesday at the FilOil EcoOil Centre.

The ALTAs, whose last loss came at the hands of the same San Beda team in an epic Game 2 in last season's NCAA volleyball finals, improved to 5-0 as they near an elimination round sweep.

The Red Spikers, however, kept it close in the second and third sets but still fell short to absorb their second consecutive loss to drop to 3-2.

Jeff Marapoc continued to show that Perpetual is not a one-man show behind reigning MVP Louie Ramirez, pouring in slew of attacks in the final frame despite Van Book's resistance to bring life to San Beda.

But errors from San Beda hounded them as a Book service error sent Perpetual to a 20-16 cushion before Marapoc soared from the back for another four-point lead while his down-the-line kill made it a 23-19 lead for the four-peat seeking Las Piñas crew.

KC Andrade sent them to the match point off a soft touch on the ball as Marapoc put the punctuation after completing a combination play.

Ramirez still emerged as the top scorer with 17 points with 18 receptions while Marapoc tallied 13 markers all on attacks. JC Enarciso, the leading setter across the league, had 22 excellent sets to lead the squad.

Book paced San Beda with 13 points while Mohammad Tahiluddin and Anrie Bakil chipped in eight and seven markers apiece.
