Perpetual bounces back, survives seesaw affair vs. San Beda | NCAA Philippines

University of Perpetual Help System DALTA buckled down in the deciding set to put San Beda University away, 20-25, 25-13, 22-25, 25-17, 15-6, and bounce back in the NCAA Season 99 women's volleyball tournament on Tuesday at the FilOil EcoOil Centre.

The Lady ALTAs, who were coming off another five-set affair and a loss to Lyceum, improved to 3-2 to remain in the Final Four picture while the Lady Red Spikers fell to a 1-4 card.

Perpetual was able to neutralize San Beda's rookie sensation Angel Habacon in the fifth, forcing her to commit two crucial errors before opposite hitter Charmaine Ocado served up a block and an easy attack to bring the Las Piñas crew to an 8-2 cushion.

But the Lady Red Spikers, eager to bag their second win in five games, went on a 4-1 rampage capped by a one-two play from setter Katleya Molina that cut the deficit to just three, 6-9, and forced Perpetual to call for a breather.

That timeout proved effective for the Lady ALTAs as they unleashed a massive 6-0 closing run with reigning MVP Mary Rhose Dapol finishing what her teammate Shai Omipon started. Dapol, who had a career-high 35-point outing in the previous game, nailed three of their last six points.

Omipon ended up with 26 points anchored on 22 attacks, three aces, and one block to help Perpetual force a two-way tie at the fourth spot with Arellano University.
