Perpetual vents ire on hard-luck EAC to keep slim playoff hopes alive | NCAA Philippines

University of Perpetual Help System DALTA kept its slim playoff chances alive after eking out a 25-16 25-19, 20-25, 25-16 victory against Emilio Aguinaldo College in the NCAA Season 99 women's volleyball tournament on Sunday at Filoil EcoOil Centre.

The Lady ALTAs ended their elimination round campaign with a 5-4 card to remain in playoff contention while the Lady Generals closed out its bid with a winless slate of 0-9.

Sophomore ace Shai Omipon led the way with 16 points, including four of their last six points, alongside five digs while team captain and graduating middle blocker Razel Aldea poured in 11 markers.

Perpetual blew an 18-14 lead in the third set as the Lady Generals unleashed a 9-2 run to force an extension, denying the Las Piñas crew a sweep victory.

They regrouped in the fourth frame and even cruised to a huge 19-12 cushion after a Winnie Bedana kill while Omipon put the finishing kick with three straight points for a 23-15 lead.

Omipon then completed a combination attack from the middle to allow the Lady ALTAs to cop the four-set romp.

EAC, who shuffled its personnel for its season-ending game, banked on Alex Razonable and Trisha Brutas who churned out 15 and 10 points apiece.
